Wylde Thang!

Well a dream of over 20 years has finally came true...I got to see my absolute favorite guitarist Zakk Wylde and Black Label Society in concert for the first and probably last time...The music was great and he played it to perfection. He played the House of Blues in New Orleans October 9th...I sang every song and even my mosh pit skills were somewhat still there for a 39 year old. I was really kinda sad as it was over too soon but all good things must come to an end. Thanks Zakk for a lifetime of memories..keep on doing what you do! TBLO/ SDMF!

In Loving Memory

As the sun sets on this day, I feel my heart grieving over the loss of a dear friend. This friend I came to know as a child. He was there for my whole life and now mine must move on without him. Nothing hurts like losing someone that you love, and I can truely say that I loved him like a member of my family. I have very good memories of working and even playing with him. He was always up for whatever fool idea I came up with. Like the time I wanted to preach and had him dig out of storage a podium and placed it in the house. I think at the time he was the only member of my congregation. Or the time that I wanted to go fishing in Morgantown and so we loaded up on my 3 wheeler and went....I am sure that we were quite the site. The list goes on and on. He watched me grow up and go through those times that everyone does. We skinned deer and turkeys. We talked about the weather and "how that rain was coming in" and how cold it was because "that wind was blowing off some ice" However, my first memory of him was getting in his car in Reform at the end of a long day....finishing work and getting ready to go home, the sun setting below the horizon. I can remember feeling safe with him...knowing that I was alright in his care.

I can sum up what Willie Gray meant to me and how much of an impact that he made on my life in a simple statement...He was always faithful!

I will never forget you. I will always love you. May you rest in peace with our Lord where the sun always shines from our beautiful Savior.....you were always faithful.

See you later Will!

man these are gonna smell great!

Leanne fried our last catch of fish from the freezer one afternoon, I had just finished cutting grass and Leanne told me to go get a shower while she finished frying the fish....I told her "Let me just smell them a bit longer..." They smelled fantastic....Young and I looked at each other and knew that it was time to catch some more!

We had both been working so hard that it looked like it was not going to happen, but we did squeeze in to very productive July weekend trips.....we brought home 105 the first weekend and 132 the next....5 bags of filets now sit in the freezer...cant wait to smell that grease in the air!!

What a whirlwind!

Turkey season was one of the best that I can remember...I harvested two birds in Mississippi both with 11 1/2" beards one had 1 1/8"spurs and the other had one 3/4" spur missed my third bird last week of the season on a chip shot....wish that I could bore you with the details but I will leave them in my mind! I was extremely lucky and won our NWTF chapter gun raffle that was a Remington Versa Max 12 gauge a $1400 gun for $20. Cheapest gun I ever bought! So that eased my missing pain a bit... Went to South Dakota late May and limited out in a day and half...total of 10 Merriam birds killed...unbelievable trip!

NWTF Convention

Scott Edwards and I travelled to Nashville to be a part of the 2011 NWTF Convention. We had a great time even after we contracted a nasty stomach bug that put us down for a little while! (no more ribs!) We manned the National 4-H Shooting Sports Booth and reached over 600 young people from 19 different states and 2 countries!
We even got a semi surprise visit from Leanne and MA!

New Season New Gun

I found this gun at Gary's back in late January and fell in love with it! It is a Winchester Super X2 12 gauge NWTF edition, and it loves the 3.5" #6 Winchester Extended Range. I put a Claw Sling on it and it is fantastic!

2010-2011 Duck and Deer Feast

The 2010-2011 Duck and Deer Feast was held at the new Long house with 14 attending. A great time was had by all. Good food, fellowship and fun when the door prizes started!

Season Ends

Well it is with sadness and fond memories that I have to report that the 2010-2011 Deer and Duck season is in the books. What a year it was.....talk about an exciting second rifle season....I tagged out on the slickheads in short order. Late duck season proved to be consistent until the end, even though numbers dropped off dramatically. Thanks to everyone that I was able to share it with!

Woodies....(get your mind out of the gutter!)

Special thanks to the woodies for giving us the meat we need!

times they are a changin

Just wanted to give a quick update on the 2010-2011 season....wow what a season it has been! The season is drawing to a close and let me tell you things can really turn around on a dime! As in my previous post, my deer season has been a tough one. It was the first time in 16 years that I did not get a deer during primitive weapons season, but still I forged forward.....Second rifle season exploded with me harvesting 4 does! Meat is in the freezer....so much in fact that we had to buy a new freezer! Duck season has also been the best I have seen it in years! Thanks so much to those that I have had the honor of sharing the duck and deer woods with! BTW....I loved my vacation this year...seemed like every week we had a different guest in our home hunting with me....it was a blast! (Felt like I was running my own guide service...just without the pay.... Christmas brought Caleb Eby to the house and our other PA friends for a week or two of deer hunting southern style. Andy Reitz killed a 6 point and Caleb had many encounters with deer. (does, 4 points and better!) Christmas was also special because it was our first in our new home....Christmas morning we woke up to snow and it seemed almost surreal sitting by the fireplace watching it snow while we opened presents! Thanks Leanne for making our house a home!
